Do You Have Any Of These Scars?
Rolling Scars
Boxcar Scars
Ice Pick Scars
Hypertrophic and Keloid Scars
Acne scars affect more than just your skin. As research¹ suggests, acne scar sufferers tend to be associated with lower confidence and self-esteem. The good news is that they are treatable with the right solutions. A good aesthetic doctor will be able to recommend treatments that fit your skin type and scar profile.

How We Treat Acne Scars–The Veritas Way
At Veritas, we offer a complete range of evidence-based treatments capable of treating all types of acne scars. Instead of using a single fractional laser or microneedling RF for many sessions, which may not produce the best results, we use a synergistic combination of acne scar removal treatments tailored precisely to each individual, with respect to both their skin and scar type.
We always aim to treat our patients efficiently. With acne scars, that means complete removal and not just reduction.
Types of Acne Scar Treatments
Energy-based Devices
PERFECT Resurfacing
PERFECT is a skin resurfacing protocol developed by Veritas. This unique combination of various acne scar removal fractional lasers is used to penetrate different skin layers and target acne scar tissue.
RESTORE Laser Protocol
RESTORE uses full-field laser resurfacing for skin rejuvenation. This treatment selectively removes unwanted and damaged dermal layers, such as those around the acne scars.
Restore is especially effective for deep and stubborn scars, especially ice pick scars that sees little improvements with subcision and conventional lasers.
Injectable Treatments
Subcision
Subcision is a treatment for scars that are depressed and bound within the skin by fibrous scar tissue. A needle is inserted into the skin to break apart fibrous bands/tethers formed and left behind by acne inflammation. A concentrated skin booster, Rejuran S, is then injected to fill the sunken scars and stimulate collagen under the scar.
After subcision treatment, we recommend patients to follow up with procedures such as fractional CO2 laser to stimulate collagen production and remodel acne scar tissue. This procedure is best for tethered, anchored and rolling scars.
Skin Boosters and Collagen Stimulators
Skinboosters, such as Rejuran Healer and Nucleofill, and collagen stimulators, such as Ellansé, can be combined with subcision treatment and injected into the scar tissue. Such a procedure can help with most acne scar types. This procedure requires skill but, when done properly, produces great results for patients.
Dermal Fillers
Dermal fillers can be used to improve the appearance of acne scars, especially rolling and atrophic scars. When injected superficially underneath the scars, dermal fillers can help to plump the skin and smooth out depressions.
Surgical Techniques
Punch Excision
Punch Excision is a microsurgical method that works by utilising a punching tool that makes a tiny puncture surrounding the acne scar. The top layer of the skin containing the targeted scar is excised and stitched with micro-sutures to allow healing.
This procedure is done while the patient is under local anaesthesia. It is the ideal technique for deep ice pick scars and narrow, deep boxcar scars. It can also be used to straighten and smooth out scars that have healed in an unusual pattern.
Why Your Acne Scar Treatment Isn’t Working
We sometimes hear stories from patients who are disappointed with expensive acne scar treatments that yield little result. One common reason why acne scar treatment fail is due to the use of a blanket treatment approach. For example, the use of a single fractional ablative laser to target both shallow and deep acne scars have to be used at a gentle superficial setting to minimise downtime. This in turn produces little result, even with more sessions. The operator’s skill such as applying the correct laser settings, needling techniques and knowledge of combining treatments are also crucial in ensuring effective results.
The Earlier You Treat Your Scars, The Better The Outcome.
As you age, acne scars can appear more visible due to reduced skin collagen and elasticity. Depressed acne scars can look worse as you enter your 30s and 40s and require more number of treatments and collagen stimulation to smooth out scars. This is why we recommend early acne scar treatment for our patients at Veritas.
